If you are looking for a romantic updo hairtsyle to complete your look on your next date night in Miami, read on to learn 5 great techniques for bringing some romance to your hairstyle in Miami. Each of these looks is simple, yet can elevate your everyday hair to something special.

  • French Twist

The french twist is a classic style that is best for hair that is chin length or longer. It is an easy style to accomplish by pulling the hair into a low ponytail and then twisting up and hiding the ends back inside. This style is simple, traditional and beautiful.

  • Low Bun

Soften the look of a tight, high bun by moving the style lower and keeping the edges loose. This look is simple, yet elegant, and is a great way to add some variety to your evening look.

  • Side-Swept Chignon

A side-swept chignon brings unexpected elegance. Easily achieve this look by starting with a side part and bringing the hair into a low ponytail on the same side as the part. Twist the hair until it starts to form a bun, and secure. Soften this look by pulling out some front pieces, and you have achieved an easy yet elevated updo.

  • High Ponytail

A high ponytail doesn’t immediately sound like a romantic updo, but a few tweaks can make this style classic and romantic. It also helps to cool you down on those humid Miami nights. Make this look work by creating big, loose curls in the ponytail. Tie with a ribbon and soften the hair in the front, and you have a ponytail worthy of a kiss goodnight.

  •  Braided Crown

Braids are timeless, and this style pulls them into a crown that is sure to complete your look. Starting with a deep part, begin braiding back on the larger side with two or three smaller braids. Finish by braiding back the smaller side, and weaving the ends under and securing with bobby pins. Make sure the braids are loose to achieve a soft, romantic look for an easy and simple Miami Hairstyle.

These are just 5 great ideas to get you thinking about your next date night hairstyle. An updo is a great way to get out of your usual hair routine and create a special look for a special occasion. At Red Market Salon Miami we know romance and just how to get you looking eye gaping beautiful for your special someone.

The Beauty of African-American Hairstyles

african-american hairstyles

It doesn’t matter if your hair is natural, pressed, relaxed or curled, for African-American hair, finding a hair stylist you can trust is not only essential, it’s also tough. Any woman can find fault in their hair no matter what type of hair we were born with. For African-American’s, their hair needs a lot of care to prevent thinning. We will look at some of Red Market’s expert advice on how to take care of and work with African-American hairstyles.

For natural hair

Hair conditioner and shampoo are crucial if you need your natural hair to remain as healthy as always. It is difficult to use styling agents without a conditioner and shampoo. Trimming the hair also keeps it neat and stylish and avoids you the feeling of unkempt hair.

For pressed or straightened hair

Pressed hair needs lots of visits to the salon; some go every two weeks for trimming. However, instead of many visits to the salon and using too many products, drinking a lot of water and greens has significant benefits on your hair. Also, over the counter products like coconut oil are healthy options for your hair care.

For relaxed hair

In most cases, 80% of people with relaxed hair complain of damaged hair. Hair relaxers contain chemicals that could easily thin out the hair follicles. However, with technology, you can relax your hair without using hair relaxer products, some hot iron curls would be enough. It’s also essential to determine your hair texture since some textures are not fit for straightening.

For thinning hair

Red Market Salon in Miami recommends the use of Kerastase specific, a high-quality hair product, for people suffering from thinning and damaged hair. The product acts to restore damaged hair and reduce hair loss. For African-American hairstyles that is coarse or relaxed, applying Kerastase after a deep conditioning could provide a heat protective layer on the hair.

Trendy Kid’s Haircuts and Styles

We all know that adoring fans regularly emulate their favorite celebrity’s hairstyle, but kid’s haircuts shouldn’t be left out of the fun either.
Here are four fun hairstyles from celeb spawns that children will be sure to love.

1. Brooklyn Beckham’s Relaxed Tresses

kid's haircuts

Brooklyn Beckham, son of Victoria and David Beckham, opts for a longer, relaxed style. It requires little upkeep and gives that laid back vibe his dad is known for. If you have a child that
loves sports, this kids haircut is great and can be put into a topknot for those extra strenuous days.

2. Suri Cruise’s Baby Bob

kid's haircuts

Suri Cruise, daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, was famous in her own right for the cut of the decade. A killer straight bob with cute, straight-across bangs. The great

thing about this is that upkeep really only requires a bang trim every two weeks. The grow-out process for this cut is also surprisingly easy.

3. Every boy’s Faux-Hawk

kid's haircuts

Almost every celebrity boy from Maddox Pitt-Jolie, to Moses Paltrow Martin has contended with the faux-hawk at one point or another. Almost a rite of passage, this celeb tot style gives that edgy look without the edgy maintenance.

4. Colored Hairkid's haircuts

Surprisingly (or not), many Hollywood children like to color their hair. The most popular color going around? Green. Perhaps it’s due to the popularity of the Hulk or Loki, but green seems to be a trend among these elite youth.

Many of these styles will go in and out of fashion over the years, but leave it to celebrity children to have as much influence as their famous parents when it comes to style.

How To Perfect Curls at Home

That big event is coming up. You need your hair to be perfectly curled. However, there is simply no time to make an appointment at the salon for professional styling. You may be surprised to know that you can have salon quality curls, without the time and curls at homeexpense of a trip to the stylist. Here are 3 easy steps that anyone can do to create perfect curls at home.

1 Wash and Prep – A quality style requires your hair to be free of dirt, oils, and any residual chemicals that may conflict with what you are trying to achieve. So wash your hair thoroughly and condition with a light conditioner. The object is to have clean slate for this hair sculpting project. Towel dry the excess water, leaving the hair damp. Now apply a good styling product to the damp hair. A great choice for this is “L’Incroyable Blow-dry” by Kerastase. You will want to Apply one or two pumps to towel dried hair from the ends, working upwards.curls at home

2 Dry and Curl – Now that the hair is fully prepped for your perfect curls, go ahead and blow dry the hair. Once your hair is dry use a high quality curling iron of the appropriate barrel size for the curls you want. Hold your iron vertically for looser curls, and horizontally for bouncier, tighter curls.

3 Style and Hold – No that you have sculpted the perfect curls, let’s curls at homemake sure you keep them! Allow your hair to cool off for a few minutes, this allows the curls to set. Touching, styling, or even running your fingers through your hair too soon, can cause unwanted frizz or droopy curls. Once they are set, take your time and style your hair the way you want it. Finally, apply a good hairspray to hold your curls all day long. One of the best sprays for this is Kerastase’s “Laque Couture” it is flexible, long lasting, and designed to work perfectly with heating tools.

Using these simple steps you can go to your big event looking like you just stepped out a high end salon. Now that you know the secret, you have the tools you need to create beautiful curls at home  when you don’t have the time to come see us at Red Market Salon Miami.

Red Market Hair Salon New York: Pomp and Circumstance

Red Market, a hair salon in New York is all about keeping you updated on the latest fashions. We believe the best fashions never truly go out of style. One great example of this is the pompadour, a flashy, sweeping hair-do that originated in the 1700’s. Madame de Pompadour, the fashion-conscious mistress of France’s King Louis XV, was the very first to wear this hair style. Since then, the pompadour has experienced several adaptations, but has remained ever-popular throughout the centuries! So it’s true—the best looks really never do go out of style!

Madame de Pompadour

Madame de Pompadour (withfriendship.com)

The “pomp” was originally stylish with Madame de Pompadour and other members of the French court. It experienced its second wave of popularity from the 1890’s-1910’s. Then men began “rocking the rooster” during the rock-n-roll 50’s era. Famous rockers, most notably The King Elvis Presley, donned the look. Since then, many well-known celebrities have worn the coiffed hair style, up until the 21st Century.

As you can see, the pompadour hairstyle is very versatile and many different celebrities sport it, both men and women. Whether your pompadour is flashy and feminine, or modern and manly, it is sure to draw envy and attention. But not everyone can rock the pompadour hairstyle. It requires a certainly vivaciousness. After all, big hair needs a big personality! You can be outgoing and full of moxy, like the singer Pink. You can be quirky and fun, like Conan O’Brien. Or you can be soulful and charismatic like Elvis Presley.

The pompadour is created by sweeping the hair up from the sides and forehead, so that is worn high over your face. The essential feature of the pomp is that it must be worn high in the front, and shorter on the sides and back. However, there are many variations to this style. For example, a ‘quiff’ is a mix between the hard-edged mohawk and the pompadour. You can try to create the pompadour yourself at home, but this tricky hair style is best left to the professionals. The professional stylists at Red Market will create the perfect pompadour for your personality and facial features. Whatever style you choose, it is sure to reflect your unique personality and enhance your look!

From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, it’s the time to throw caution to the wind and “let your hair down” – or pull it up. Women can don a red-carpet look and look as fabulous as the holidays are supposed to feel. Let Red Market Salons get you red-carpet ready!

Nicole Sherzinger with fishtail braid ponytail

One of 2012’s most popular looks is the braid. For a loose but elegant look, women can try the off-center plait. Pulling the braid apart after it’s done creates an effortless feel. Fishtail braids are also very chic, and can be added to any style. Nikki Reed added a skinny fishtail as a braid to her low chignon, while Nicole Scherzinger turned an ultra-high ponytail into a statement by creating a fishtail braid in the ponytail.

An elevated version of the natural look is also in vogue this season. You need only a proper cut and blow dry! Volume is the way to go if you want to wear your hair au naturel. This look is also easy to maintain for women on the go, shopping for holiday gifts, cooking amazing dinners, or running from party to party. Use volumizing spray to keep your look full of height. Adding subtle waves gives a twist to the simple blowout, as Emma Stone did with her vintage face-framing waves.

Calling back to the 1920s, finger waves are trending for holiday hair as well. From Mila Kunis to Evan Rachel Woods, celebs used finger waves to add glamour and glitz to their look. Adding a smoky eye shadow amps up the drama of this look – particularly festive for a holiday like New Year’s Eve.

Sleek, shiny hair is also a stylish choice for the holidays. Women can opt for a silky, low ponytail with a side part – easy to style for those days full of activities. Stylists recommend using a shine serum to keep the look glossy.

The bun is another sexy look for women this year. Whether it’s a messy top knot, a soft side bun, or a sleek ballerina bun, the look is party ready and easy to accessorize. A sparkly clip on the side of the head could add drama to a soft bun. A simple, drugstore headband can add drama and volume to a top knot, à la Olivia Wilde. Accessories bring out the glamour of the season. Barrettes and pins can make a simple bun special, and headbands can play up or tone down a look.

In order to keep your hair in the best condition for these great holiday looks, schedule appointments at Red Market Salon in NYC early, as the holidays book up quickly.  For a cut and blow dry, or hair color treatment, be sure to time your appointments to be right before Thanksgiving, and then Christmas, depending on your maintenance level. After you find your perfect holiday style, select a photo to bring with you. Most importantly, live it up this holiday season – it’s the perfect time to create the most beautiful version of you, and cutting-edge salons like Red Market can help you create it!
